TErrestrial Trunked RAdio (TETRA) - Digicomp@ct solution
TETRA is the modern digital Private Mobile Radio (PMR) and Public Access Mobile Radio (PAMR) technology used for Police, Paramilitary Forces, Ambulance, Fire Services, Railways & Metros, Military, Public Access, Fleet Management, Disaster Management, Transport Services, Closed User Groups, Factory Site Services, Mining, etc.TETRA is a standard promoted by ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute) and operational throughout Europe, Asia-Pacific, Africa, South America and Middle East.
From the Homeland Security perspective, communication plays the most vital role during any operation such as terrorist encounters, hostage situations, dealing with hostile criminals and rescue missions. DIGICOMP@CT (TETRA) provides a reliable and dependable communication network to deal with these situations that can save lives and make an operation successful. DIGICOMP@CT (TETRA) can operate seamlessly in any situations where most of the other means of communication have a chance of failure.
TYPICAL DIGICOMP@CT NETWORK

DIGICOMP@CT TECHNOLOGY - TETRA over IP
Thales is the inventor of the concept TETRA over IP. Thales was the first company to deploy a radio network using this technology in 1999. Since this first implementation, DIGICOMP@CT has been continuously improved with new features.
DIGICOMP@CT technology is the resulting product of a unique "know-how" involving integration of digital telecommunication networks, based on Local Area Networks (LAN), and Wide Area Networks.
All switched TETRA PMR systems available in the market are proprietary, whether they are based on a GSM switch or developed specifically for TETRA.
In an IP-based distributed architecture, the switch is replaced by:
- A set of routers (the IP network), which distribute voice packets to the appropriate destinations.
- Distributed processing of mobility data at each Radio Site (Base Station Control Units).
DIGICOMP@CT network is based on Distributed Architecture. Following are some of the Characteristics & Advantages:
Characteristics:
- A local database located on each Radio Site
- Reference database located at the management centre
- Permanent update between reference database and local databases
- Time stamping of data for inconsistency resolving
Advantages:
- Multi site operation are still allowed even if a part of the network fails or main database is unreachable.
- Main information is never lost (billing, rights changes)
