There are many tools to use when updating as built information. You must decide on what type of fidelity is correct for certain areas of your facility. You can use laser scanning tools, three dimensional digital photography, three dimensional modeling tools or two dimensional engineering drawing tools. You can choose different tools that are right for your facility areas and Rolta will integrate them so you can find, use and update them when you need to.
Formats, naming conventions, bill of material differences and different views of the asset are all technical challenges in maintaining as built databases. Many facilities have several filing cabinets of P&ID’s maintained by different functional groups like reliability, maintenance, engineering and operations. Each functional group has to agree on the management of change work processes for as built updates.
