Aerial images of the earth surface taken from an aircraft are scanned and converted into digital form. These numerous images need to be oriented and adjusted to represent the entire block (aero triangulation, or AT) that was covered during the aerial photo mission. We provide the services to carry out aero triangulation of the entire block.
The AT process precisely orients aerial images to the earth surface using field-surveyed control points. At Rolta, we use a variety of control methods, including conventional ground control and Airborne Global Positioning System control (AGPS) in conjunction with Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) systems. The addition of AGPS or IMU data in the triangulation adjustment reduces the need for extensive field surveys in establishing ground control points.
We use automatic aero triangulation solutions such as ISAT from Intergraph, and BLUH from Hannover University, which automates the orientation process to a large extent. This eliminates operator errors and delivers consistent, robust adjustment solutions. Our vast AT experience and the use of industry standard triangulation solutions ensure highly accurate results for our clients.
We offer ISAT and ISDM for all AT requirements in partnership with Intergraph. This software solution is widely used throughout the world and has proven to be robust.
