Maintenance and Management System for PGD, Abu Dhabi

Public Gardens Directorate (PGD), which is part of the Abu Dhabi Municipality, is responsible for meeting the rapidly growing needs of Abu Dhabi. Its activities include landscape and irrigation, drainage / storm water, ground water, recycling and maintenance of assets. PGD manages an area of more than 800 square kilometres, involving more than a million maintenance assets.
PGD required a computerised maintenance and management system (CMMS) solution to cater to its day-to-day operations and maintenance of assets.

Combining its strengths in GIS and software development, Rolta developed an innovative solution by integrating GIS and MIS into a unified solution for CMMS.  Using this, PGD can update asset information, record maintenance details, and generate periodic reports, bar charts, and other metrics.
The scope of work included the design of the GIS-MIS application, its development and implementation and training. Data from a variety of sources -- from QuickBird satellite images, ground survey, and asset/feature capture and verification -- had to be collated and unified to create the final geospatial database model.

With the Rolta solution, PGD now has the benefit of a centralized asset database for the timely update and retrieval of information. It provides advanced tools for geospatial queries, such as locating specific features and retrieving data on maintenance and upgrade schedules. CMMS also serves as an invaluable tool for planning.

The solution is helping PGD manage over 1.6 gigabytes of MIS and GIS data pertaining to over a million assets.
