Mumbai, October 22, 2007 : Rolta India Limited, one of India's leading IT companies, specializing in GIS/GeoSpatial Information Systems, Engineering Design and Enterprise Information & Communication Technology, today announced unaudited financial results for the first quarter ended September 30, 2007 and a bonus issue of one share for every one share held.
Financial Highlights
Operational Highlights
During the quarter, the Company achieved accelerated growth on account of strong business momentum across all geographies. The Company won major projects for mapping and network database creation from large companies in the telecom and utility sectors in North America and other geographies worldwide.
With the acquisition of Orion Technology Inc., Rolta has significantly enhanced its capabilities to provide innovative solutions and services to seamlessly integrate disparate databases with geospatial information across the Web. The Company is deploying this technology for exploiting the power of GIS in areas beyond traditional applications, such as for elections information management, or economic development.
Rolta Thales Limited (RTL), the Company's joint venture with Thales, France, has launched it's state-of-the-art C4ISTAR solutions, to extremely encouraging response. These solutions have been developed on the basis of on-going technology transfer from Thales and are tailor made for the Indian defence forces. While developing these solutions, special care has been taken to protect the investments already made by Indian defence forces by ensuring integration with their existing systems/technology, which has earlier been provided by Rolta.
With the strong traction in Engineering Design Services, the company achieved a robust growth. The Company has strengthened its leadership position in the Engineering Design Automation market and has won projects from large EPC companies, owner-operators and shipyards in India, Europe and other projects worldwide.
Stone & Webster Rolta Limited (SWRL) continues to achieve healthy growth. This growth is a result of the high value being brought to various projects by SWRL, due to its world-class infrastructure, highly qualified technical expertise and best practices. SWRL is executing several large projects from petrochemical companies and refineries and has recently been awarded an extremely prestigious Contract for Engineering and Procurement Services, to be performed for a major Olefins Project.
The Company continues to achieve consistent growth executing several large projects in partnership with CA for their customers across Europe, North America and Middle East. The Company has also developed several software tools and solutions for its internal use for productivity gains, and some for licensing to clients.
As a part of expansion plans and to meet the growing demands of services worldwide, Rolta is enlarging its pool of technical professionals and is inducting fresh and experienced professionals to join its global project teams. The Company has been providing training on the state-of-the-art technology and software tools to all its employees on or before they are assigned on customer projects. The Company has set up an in-house Rolta Academy in September, 2007 to provide this program in a very formal and structured manner. The Academy will provide specialized training to over 1000+ professionals every year, in GIS, Engineering Design and IT technologies to impart domain expertise and skills specific to the Company's business practices. The Academy is equipped with cutting edge technology, software tools and a large dedicated faculty. The Academy received an overwhelming response and over 250 professionals in GIS, Engineering and IT have been enrolled for the first batch. The company has devised a unique cashless program to enhance the skills of the employees and to retain them, which makes it a win-win proposition for both the organisation and the employee.
