Rolta continues to deliver strong growth in Q1

Mumbai, October 30, 2006 : Rolta India Limited, one of India's leading IT companies, specializing in GeoSpatial Information Systems (GIS), Engineering Design Automation (EDA) and eSolutions (eS), today announced unaudited financial results for the first quarter ended September 30, 2006.

FINANCIAL HIGHLIGHTS

Consolidated Revenue for the quarter at Rs. 1546.23 Million (USD 33.66 Million) as against Rs. 1173.00 million (USD 26.65 Million) in corresponding quarter of the previous year, a year-on-year (y-o-y) growth of 31.8 %.
Consolidated Profit After Tax for the quarter ended September 30, 2006 has shown a robust year-on-year (y-o-y) growth of 35.3 % to Rs. 373.18 Million (USD 8.12 Million), as against Rs. 275.87 Million (USD 6.27 Million) in the corresponding quarter of the previous year.
Consolidated Earnings Per Share for the quarter ended September 30, 2006 was Rs. 4.7 (USD 0.10) after considering the dilution of GDR issue, as against Rs. 4.3 (USD 0.10) in the corresponding quarter last year.
Consolidated Revenue for the quarter ending September 30, 2006, registered a quarter-on-quarter (q-o-q) growth of 7.0 %, whilst the consolidated net profit for this period grew at 5.6 %, over that of the quarter ended June 30, 2006.
Consolidated revenue of CAD/CAM/GIS segment was Rs. 1362.16 (USD 29.65 mn) as against Rs. 1087.13 mn (USD 24.70 mn) representing a y-o-y growth of 25.3 % and sequential growth of 6.3 %.
Consolidated revenue of eBusiness Solutions segment was Rs. 184.07 (USD 4.01 mn) as against Rs. 85.86 mn (USD 1.95 mn) representing a y-o-y growth of 114.4 % and sequential growth of 12.7 %.

OPERATIONAL HIGHLIGHTS

GeoSpatial information systems (GIS)
The company has Strengthened its leadership position in the domestic market by securing and executing large orders for providing turnkey solutions to Defence, Public Safety & Home Land security agencies (Police), Telecom/Electric distribution companies, Urban Development and Town Planning departments. The company is uniquely positioned to address new opportunities from the emerging core infrastructure development projects in India and creating digital networks for telecom, electric, gas & water companies in utility sector, worldwide. Internationally, in the GIS business the company has won major projects for 3D city modeling using high-end photogrammetry services.

The company has entered into joint venture with Thales, France, a leading international electronics and systems group, to provide state-of-the-art Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance (C4ISTAR) information systems, for domestic and international markets which would further strengthen company's dominant position in defence and home land security market in India.
Engineering Design Automation (EDA)
The company has enhanced its leadership position in India and secured large contracts for providing engineering design automation solutions and design services to major EPCs and Owner operators.

The company has made a good beginning by securing contracts from shipyards in India to provide Ship Design services using the latest cutting edge technology software tools and generation of workshop drawings, production information, prefabrication & preoutfitting information, assembly and installation schemes. Internationally, the company executed various contracts in plant Information management for customers in USA, Europe and the Middle East.

The joint venture company Stone & Webster Rolta Limited (SWRL), has achieved a very healthy growth during this quarter. Besides providing engineering design services for S&W projects globally, the JV is also executing engineering, design, procurement and construction management projects for large refineries and petrochemical companies in India. Stone & Webster being one of the leaders in Nuclear energy technology, SWRL is well placed to participate in this high -growth opportunity.
eSolutions (eS)
The company has achieved significant growth in the eSolutions business group, in partnership with CA for eSecurity and network management, for their global customers. Rolta already has a definitive agreement with CA for North America and has provided significant services in support of more than 235 CA customers' worldwide using eTrust, Unicenter, BrightStor and custom integration solutions. On the same lines as agreement for North America, Rolta and CA have now entered in to a definitive three-year agreement for United Kingdom, Europe, Middle East and Africa to provide product implementation, migration, upgrade, customization and integration services to CA customers. The agreement to use Rolta's onshore and offshore resources will supplement services provided by CA Technology Services' internal staff across the full spectrum of CA's Services. The agreement extends a highly successful five-year service partnership between Rolta and CA.

To further strengthen its quality standards, Rolta continues to benchmark its quality processes against the world's best. Rolta has been awarded the prestigious BS ISO 27001-2005 certification, the ultimate benchmark for information security. At present only 25 companies are certified world-wide, of which 10 are in India. Rolta is the 21st company in the world to be certified by BSI with "ISO/IEC 20000-1-2005 IT Service Management Standard". Now, Rolta's software development business group has been certified at the highest level of CMMI Level 5 by KPMG.
