Rolta offers state of the art Detailed Engineering Services to ensure optimum quantities, work-volumes, constructability, operability, maintainability and safety of Power and Process industry plants.

Rolta employs domain knowledge experts, cutting edge software tools and specially developed applications for delivering intricate engineering services. These include a seamless integration of basic engineering through a common design database, which provides consistent and correct data in all the design deliverables and design cycles.

Based on the basic design, we provide these detailed engineering services by delivering intelligent engineering designs and the associated documentation. This is achieved through the extensive use of integrated engineering workflows, as well as multi-platform engineering applications for the design and analysis of mechanical and electrical elements, piping, instrumentation and civil activities.

Rolta provides the following Detailed Engineering Services:

1. Process Engineering

Rolta’s process engineering group undertakes the complete detailed engineering of process plants based on the basic know how (FEED) package provided by technology suppliers. The intelligent data generated from the SmartPlant P&ID can be further integrated with PDS & SmartPlant 3D models. The various services covered include:

  • Process simulation
  • Heat and material balance calculations
  • Materials of construction diagrams
  • Hydraulic analysis, line sizing and relief valve sizing
  • Design of process equipment
  • Development of Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and equipment data sheets

2. Instrumentation & Controls Engineering

Rolta’s Instrumentation & Control systems engineering group executes detailed engineering activities for all types of instrumentation at Process & Power industries. Over the years, this team has executed multiple instrumentation engineering projects for domestic and overseas customers.

The major elements of this service include instrument markups on P&IDs, preparation of specification datasheets, development of Field Instrument/JB/Panel location plans, wiring and loop diagrams, hook-up drawings, PLC/DCS I/O assignment, DCS configuration etc. and the creation/import of instrument indexes, flow sensors, control valves and thermo well sizing calculations. The various services covered include:

  • Complete Control System design and architecture
  • Distributed Control System (DCS), Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) design and specification

3. Electrical Engineering

Rolta’s electrical engineering carries out power systems studies using ETAP and other applicable software. The team also undertakes 3D modeling of trays, lighting fixtures and other electrical equipment. The various services covered include:

4. Mechanical Engineering

Rolta’s mechanical engineering group designs various static and dynamic equipment using internationally accepted design codes and software. The various services covered include:

  • Design of static and rotating equipment such as pumps, vessels, tanks and heat exchangers, reactors, columns and agitators
  • Heat exchanger setting plans
  • Finite element analysis

5. Plant Design & Piping Engineering

Rolta’s piping engineering group carries out an entire range of activities viz. stress analysis, conceptual planning and studies, 3D modeling, Isometrics, pipe supports, interference checks, as well as the creation of design reviews and reports. The various services covered include:

  • Complete plant layout services, including equipment arrangement, plot plan development and conceptual layout
  • 2D and 3D equipment and piping modeling
  • Static and dynamic piping stress analysis

6. Civil Structural Engineering

Rolta’s civil/structural engineering group undertakes the complete detailed engineering of all structures and foundations pertaining to any plant, non-plant, utility, offsite and offshore structure. The group comprises of a team of engineers and designers well equipped with international design codes and experienced in executing all types of structural analysis design and drafting assignments. 7. Marine Engineering

Rolta’s ship design group includes a core team of professionals from the marine sector comprising of naval architects, marine, mechanical, electrical and structural engineers. The team collectively has vast experience in ship and submarine design, FPSO offshore platforms, ship construction and repairs. Rolta’s ship design professionals are well versed with ship design and construction standards, class rules and specifications, having worked in some of the leading shipyards on various projects in India and abroad.
